This is Andrew. Andrew had a bad day today.
Andrew's day didn't start out bad. He was actually having a great time!
But then Andrew decided to ford the river, and he got stuck. As it turns out, rocks at the bottom of rivers are slippery and hard to stand on. Andrew almost drowned, but luckily we saved him just before things got horribly bad. Although at this point, the water gods were very angry with Andrew and they had plotted their revenge.
After narrowly surviving his brush wish the water gods we headed over to the palace. It was free today because we went during the Korean thanksgiving holiday. We paid $3 for an audio tour and headed inside.
The audio tour was pretty boring and Andrew was getting tired. Most of the facts were uninteresting and the headphones weren't really loud enough to understand the interesting ones very well. After exploring about half of the palace Andrew was getting tired and wanted to head home.
His sandals, however, had other plans. It was at this very moment that Andrew's sandal decided to commit suicide. On his very next step one of the strap exploded into an incredibly uneventful cacophony of bad luck.
Andrew tried for a while to salvage his second sandal, but in the end it was easier for him to just go on with a single shoe. So Andrew walked and walked. And then he walked some more. At some point we performed surgery on the deceased. The surgery left some needles still inside the sandal, and Andrew was reluctant to stab his foot so he decided against using it.
It turns out that most of Seoul is shut down during the holiday, so Andrew had to walk a really long way. It was about this point that Andrew completely lost his shit and blasted me in the face with his fist.
Lily was nice enough to sit down and cover the bruises with her make-up. She did such a good job that no one even suspected domestic violence! She is a true professional.
After another hour or so we finally found a street vendor willing to deal with a one-shoed beggar and Andrew's foot was reunited once more with a shoe that fit. He eventually did make his way home to take a nap, but not until the sea gods punished him for trespassing in their river.
I hope Andrew has learned his lesson.
Funny stuff. I hope Andrew has a better day today! Phil and I are enjoying your posts. Hey your camera is taking some great photos. Love Mom!
